Airsoft Gun Magazines Information
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally kept in the gun’s mag. These magazines typically connect to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. CO2, HPA, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Info
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad machine guns use high capacity box or drum magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Details About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon model and usable between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are built in a similar way. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the mags typically feature builtin gas storage areas or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Info
Airsoft handgun mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft pistol magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
