Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally kept in the weapon’s magazine. These mags normally attach to the airsoft gun similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Details About Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines are available in a number of styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These types most often relate to AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the total of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold in ammunition, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft players the most storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields commonly restrict their use during games due to players shooting a lot of ammunition to spray-and-pray throughout games.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Details
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are related to the type of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how airsoft weapons work. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag insertion area. For instance M4 style AEG mags would usually work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and functional between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags typically include builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Handguns mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The magazine is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol mags are frequently interchangeable in between similar models of the same airsoft gun manufacturer, but are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly created for that function. Understanding the various styles and types of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their magazines differ. The majority of airsoft handgun mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
