Airsoft Gun Magazines Info
These magazines normally connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Info on Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are generally pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are related to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Understand how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s mag well. M4 style AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The exact same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are built in a similar way. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun mags can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
