About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually housed in the gun’s mag. These magazines normally connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Details About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Details
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are built similarly with cross-compatibility. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized style depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often include builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Information
When compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft pistol mags are often less flexible. Pistols mags differ by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The magazine is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between comparable designs of the same airsoft gun producer, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically designed for that function. Understanding the specific styles and types of airsoft sidearms can give you a better understanding of how their mags differ. The majority of airsoft pistol magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
