About Airsoft Gun Mags
These mags typically connect to the airsoft weapon the same as the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines are manufactured in several different styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These kinds usually apply to AEG mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the total of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would keep in live ammo, which is usually around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft players the most storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas often regulate their usage because of players shooting a lot of ammo to spray-and-pray throughout games.
About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons use high-cap box magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Information
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun design and functional in between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
When compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less flexible. Pistols mags differ by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the magazine. The magazine is placed into the handgun’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between similar designs of the exact same airsoft weapon producer, but are frequently not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly developed for that purpose. Understanding the different styles and types of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their magazines work. Many airsoft handgun mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
