Airsoft Gun Mags Info
These magazines usually attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Type Information
Airsoft weapon mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types usually apply to AEG mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the volume of airsoft BBs a real weapon would keep in live ammo, which is generally around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft players the most storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One point to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas typically prohibit their usage because they allow players shooting excessive amounts of ammo to spray and pray during gameplay.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often stash the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are related to the kind of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine insertion area. M4 design AEG mags would normally work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G and G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and usable in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Details
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
