Airsoft Gun Mags Details
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically kept in the gun’s mag. These mags normally attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Info on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during engagements.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG magazines also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made style depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Info
Airsoft handgun magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
