Airsoft Weapon Mags Info
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the gun’s magazine. These magazines generally attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Info on Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad machine guns use high-cap box or drum magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by gun model and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed similarly. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Information
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Handguns mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the magazine. The mag is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the basic firearm design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between similar designs of the very same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are often not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically developed for that purpose. Understanding the various styles of airsoft handguns gives you a better understanding of how their pistol mags function. Most airsoft handgun magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
