Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally stored in the weapon’s mag. These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines are manufactured in a variety of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These styles usually involve AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the supply of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would keep in shells, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, offer airsoft players the most storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to consider about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields often regulate their use due to players shooting too much ammo to spray-and-pray during gameplay.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns work. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by weapon design and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are developed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Details About Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Handguns mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the magazine. The mag is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the basic firearm design. Handgun mags are typically interchangeable in between comparable models of the same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly created for that purpose. Learning about the different styles of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their mags function. Most airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
