About Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally held in the weapon’s mag. These mags normally connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Information
Airsoft gun magazines are manufactured in multiple styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These types most often relate to AEG mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the supply of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold in ammunition, which is usually about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, offer airsoft players the most storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. Something to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas often prohibit their usage due to players firing way too much ammo to spray-and-pray throughout games.
About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are normally loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during engagements.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to function so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
