Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally stored in the gun’s mag. These mags generally connect to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are generally loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how airsoft weapons work. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s mag well. M4 design AEG magazines would usually work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The exact same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and usable in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft handgun mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
