Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the weapon’s magazine. These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Information on Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often store the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Information Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are directly related to the kind of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Learn more about how airsoft weapons function. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag well. For example M4 style AEG magazines would generally operate in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same idea would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines typically include builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and allow the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Info on Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun magazines hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
