Airsoft Gun Magazines
These mags generally connect to the airsoft weapon the same as the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Information
Airsoft weapon mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Information on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Facts
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use high-cap box magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the mags often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Details
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
