Airsoft Gun Mags Info
These mags typically attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines can be found in a handful of styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These kinds usually involve AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the volume of airsoft BBs a real weapon would keep, which is generally about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB space with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the most storage space with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One thing to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas typically prohibit their usage due to players using way too much ammunition to spray-and-pray throughout gameplay.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are generally packed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle mags are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the kind of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Learn more about how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag insertion area. For example M4 design AEG mags would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch barrel. The same cross-compatibility would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the mags often feature builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and permit the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
About Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft handgun magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
