Airsoft Weapon Magazines Details

These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.

Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Info

Airsoft weapon magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.

How Airsoft Magazines Work

Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, HPA, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag.

Airsoft Rifle Magazines

Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.

About High-Cap LMG Mags

Some airsoft AEG guns and squad machine guns use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.

Airsoft SMG Magazines Info

Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags often come with builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.

Airsoft Pistol Mags Details

When compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible. Handguns mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the basic gun style. Handgun magazines are often interchangeable between similar designs of the exact same airsoft gun manufacturer, but are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly designed for that function. Understanding the various types of airsoft handguns can give you a better understanding of how their mags differ. Many airsoft pistol magazines keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
