Details About Airsoft Gun Mags
These mags typically connect to the airsoft gun the same as the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Info
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
About How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Details
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use high capacity box or drum magazines. They can hold up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the mags frequently come with builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags Information
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Handguns mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the magazine. The mag is placed into the handgun’s grip like the standard gun design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between comparable designs of the exact same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are frequently not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly created for that function. Learning about the various types of airsoft handguns gives you a better understanding of how their magazines differ. Most airsoft handgun magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
