Airsoft Weapon Mags Info
These mags typically attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are usually loaded into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Info
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are specific to the kind of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s magazine insertion area. M4 style AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same idea would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and usable between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
When compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible. Handguns mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the magazine. The mag is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard firearm design. Handgun magazines are often interchangeable in between similar designs of the same airsoft weapon producer, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly created for that purpose. Understanding the different styles of airsoft pistols can give you a better understanding of how their mags differ. Most airsoft pistol magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
