Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the gun’s magazine. These magazines normally connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are created after. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
About Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Info
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are generally loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Facts
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use high-cap box magazines. They can hold up to thousands of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently include builtin gas storage areas or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
When compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft handgun magazines are frequently less versatile. Pistols mags differ by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The magazine is placed into the handgun’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol magazines are typically interchangeable between similar designs of the same airsoft gun maker, but are often not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically designed for that purpose. Understanding the specific styles of airsoft sidearms can give you more insight to how their magazines differ. Most airsoft pistol magazines keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
