Airsoft Weapon Magazines Details
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically kept in the weapon’s magazine. These magazines normally connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Type Details
Airsoft gun mags come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Information
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are generally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Information
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag well.
About High-Cap LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high capacity drum magazines. They can hold up to thousands of BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam during fights.
About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Information on Airsoft Handgun Mags
When compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft handgun mags are typically less flexible. Handguns mags differ by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the basic gun style. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between similar designs of the same airsoft weapon maker, however are often not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly designed for that purpose. Learning about the specific styles and types of airsoft pistols can give you more insight to how their pistol mags function. A lot of airsoft handgun magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
