Airsoft Gun Magazines Details
These magazines generally connect to the airsoft gun the same as the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Info
Airsoft weapon mags can be found in several different types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types usually relate to AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the total of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would store in bullets, which is usually around 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the greatest storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage volume. Something to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas often regulate their use during games because of players firing too much ammunition to spray and pray throughout gameplay.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Info
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are typically pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines often feature builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
