Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the weapon’s magazine. These magazines usually attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines are made in a number of styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types usually involve AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the supply of airsoft BBs a real weapon would keep in live ammo, which is usually about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft players the most storage with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. Something to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas often restrict their use during games because of players using an excessive amount of ammunition to spray-and-pray throughout gameplay.
Info on How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s magazine well.
About High-Cap LMG Magazines
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Details
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Information on Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft pistol magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
