Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the weapon’s mag. These magazines normally attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in various styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types most often relate to AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the volume of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold in ammunition, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, offer airsoft players the greatest storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas usually regulate their usage due to players firing an excessive amount of ammunition to spray-and-pray throughout gameplay.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often house the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are related to the kind of AEG rifle and most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Learn more about how airsoft weapons function. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s magazine insertion area. M4 style AEG magazines would usually work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and usable in between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the magazines frequently include builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Info
Airsoft handgun mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Most airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
