Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually held in the gun’s magazine. These mags normally attach to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are normally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Details About Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are relegated to the kind of AEG rifle and most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how airsoft weapons function. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s mag insertion area. M4 design AEG mags would usually work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same cross-compatibility would relate to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and functional in between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically feature builtin gas storage areas or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Most airsoft handgun magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
