Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the gun’s magazine. These mags typically connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Info
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often hold the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Details
Some airsoft AEG guns and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Info on Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun design and usable in between different submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom style depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically feature builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
