Info About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These mags usually connect to the airsoft gun quite similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun mags come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are usually filled into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring creating tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are related to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine insertion area. For instance M4 design AEG mags would generally operate in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Details About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon model and functional in between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the mags often feature builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Mags Info
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun magazines hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
