Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These magazines generally connect to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Info on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s mag well. M4 style AEG magazines would usually work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The exact same would relate to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can store in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines typically include builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Information
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
