Airsoft Weapon Mags Information
These magazines normally attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Information on Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would store, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. CO2, GBB, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Details About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Information
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high capacity drum magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by gun design and functional between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Mags Details
Airsoft handgun magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun magazines hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
