Airsoft Gun Mags
These mags generally attach to the airsoft gun quite similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Info on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically stash the gas or feed air in through the mag.
About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s magazine well.
About High Capacity LMG Magazines
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high capacity drum magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and functional between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are built to be cross-compatible. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
