About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually housed in the weapon’s magazine. These magazines normally attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Information
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently stash the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
About Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
About High-Cap LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon model and functional in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Details About Airsoft Handgun Magazines
When compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft handgun mags are typically less versatile. Pistols mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The mag is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the basic gun design. Pistol mags are often interchangeable in between comparable models of the very same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically developed for that function. Understanding the different types of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their pistol mags differ. Many airsoft pistol mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
