Details About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally held in the weapon’s magazine. These magazines generally connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The kinds of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Info
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Info Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Magazine Details
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons use high-cap drum magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and functional in between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made style depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines often feature builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
