Airsoft Gun Mags
These magazines normally connect to the airsoft weapon the same as the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines are manufactured in a number of kinds like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These kinds usually involve AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the total of airsoft BBs a real gun would store in bullets, which is generally around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft players the most storage space with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. Something to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields commonly limit their use because they allow players firing too much ammunition to spray and pray throughout games.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Information Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Information
Some airsoft AEG guns and machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are developed in a similar way. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own customized design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines typically feature builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Most airsoft handgun mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
