Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically stored in the weapon’s mag. These magazines usually connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Info on How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are relegated to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how airsoft weapons function. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s magazine well. M4 design AEG mags would generally work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ gun with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Info on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon model and usable in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are developed to be cross-compatible. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Info
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. A lot of airsoft pistol mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
