Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These mags typically attach to the airsoft weapon the same as the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Information
Airsoft gun mags can be found in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These kinds usually involve AEG magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the volume of airsoft BBs a real gun would keep, which is generally about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft gamers the greatest storage with over 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields usually restrain their use during games due to players using an excessive amount of ammo to spray and pray throughout games.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Information
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Details
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are built in a similar way. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines often include builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Info
Airsoft handgun magazines are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft pistol mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
