About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally stored in the gun’s mag. These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are created after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Information
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high-cap box or drum magazines. They can hold up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Details About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the mags often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Details About Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are often less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun magazines can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
