Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically housed in the gun’s magazine. These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
About Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would store, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Information
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are normally packed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, HPA, and GBB weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
About High Capacity LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas storage areas or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft pistol mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
