Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally kept in the gun’s mag. These magazines normally connect to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Info
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are generally loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are relegated to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. See how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s mag well. For example M4 style AEG mags would usually work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The exact same would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional between different submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently include builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and allow the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Details
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun magazines can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
