Airsoft Gun Mags
These magazines typically attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are normally loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high capacity drum magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines typically feature builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Most airsoft handgun mags can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
