Airsoft Gun Magazines Details
These magazines normally attach to the airsoft weapon the same as the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Information
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would store, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and functional in between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and allow the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines Information
When compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft handgun mags are typically less flexible. Handguns mags differ by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The mag is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between similar models of the same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly created for that function. Understanding the various styles of airsoft pistols gives you more insight to how their pistol mags work. Most airsoft pistol mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
