Details About Airsoft Gun Magazines
These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are related to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Learn more about how airsoft guns work. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s magazine insertion area. For example M4 style AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G and G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same would relate to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Information
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines typically come with builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and help the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Details About Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft handgun magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
