Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually housed in the gun’s magazine. These mags typically connect to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are created after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines are made in various types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These types usually apply to AEG mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the supply of airsoft BBs a real weapon would keep in shells, which is normally around 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, give airsoft players the greatest storage with over 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One point to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields often regulate their use due to players firing a lot of ammunition to spray and pray during games.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Details
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are usually pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are directly related to the kind of AEG rifle plus all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Understand how airsoft guns function. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well. M4 design AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same cross-compatibility would relate to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are usually built to be compatible. These SMG magazines also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
