About Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally housed in the gun’s magazine. These magazines typically connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines can be found in a couple of kinds like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These kinds most often apply to AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the volume of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold in ammunition, which is typically around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the most storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to consider about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields often restrict their use during games because they allow players shooting too much ammunition to spray and pray during games.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Information
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are related to the type of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how the inner workings of airsoft weapons shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine well. For example M4 style AEG magazines would generally work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can hold in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and usable between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Mags Details
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The mag is placed into the handgun’s grip like the basic gun design. Pistol mags are frequently interchangeable between similar designs of the exact same airsoft gun maker, however are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly developed for that purpose. Learning about the different types of airsoft sidearms can give you more insight to how their mags function. A lot of airsoft handgun magazines keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
