About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the weapon’s magazine. These mags typically attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Type Information
Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by weapon design and functional in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the mags often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
About Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft handgun magazines can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
