About Airsoft Weapon Mags
These magazines typically attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Details About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines can be found in a few styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These styles usually relate to AEG magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the supply of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold in ammunition, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, offer airsoft players the most storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields frequently prohibit their use because of players firing a lot of ammunition to spray and pray during gameplay.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, HPA, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Info
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Understand how airsoft guns work. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag insertion area. M4 style AEG magazines would generally work in all M4 style rifles from a brief CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by G and G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same idea would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
