Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually held in the gun’s mag. These magazines typically connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines can be found in several kinds like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These kinds usually involve AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the supply of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would keep in shells, which is typically around 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, provide airsoft gamers the most storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One point to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields often prohibit their usage because they allow players using way too much ammo to spray and pray throughout games.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Information
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use high-cap box or drum magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun design and usable between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines often include builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Information on Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
