Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually housed in the weapon’s mag. These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are generally loaded into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
