Details About Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the gun’s magazine. These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are usually packed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Information
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun design and functional in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often feature builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft pistol mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
