About Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the gun’s magazine. These mags normally connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would house, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Info
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently stash the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Details
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by gun model and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are built in a similar way. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags often include builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
About Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft handgun mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
