Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These magazines generally attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real weapon would house, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Details About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are typically packed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. CO2, GBB, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use high capacity box or drum magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during engagements.
Details About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and functional between different submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically come with builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
About Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. A lot of airsoft handgun mags can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
