Info About Airsoft Gun Mags

These mags typically attach to the airsoft gun the same as the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.

Airsoft Gun Mag Types

Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.

Airsoft Mag Functionality Information

Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are generally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.

Details About Airsoft Rifle Mags

Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle plus all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Understand how airsoft guns function. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s mag well. M4 style AEG mags would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.

Airsoft SMG Magazines

Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by gun model and functional between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and permit the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.

Info on Airsoft Handgun Magazines

Airsoft pistol mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
