About Airsoft Gun Mags
These mags typically attach to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Information on Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are usually packed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
High Capacity LMG Magazine Information
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use very large capacity magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon model and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to function so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Information on Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Pistols mags vary by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The magazine is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard firearm design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between comparable designs of the exact same airsoft weapon maker, but are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically created for that function. Learning about the specific styles and types of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their magazines function. A lot of airsoft pistol mags keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
